1. GMAIL SPEAR PHISHING ATTACK BY CHINESE HACKERS
Google warns users about a Gmail spear phishing attack that targets government officials, military personnel, activists and journalists.
Many security experts believe the Chinese government, the People’s Liberation Army (PPA) and theCommunist Party of China (CPC) have hackers on their payroll and are ordering the attacks.
The Chinese government has repeatedly rejected these accusations, claiming China is a victim just like anyone else. The PPA recently established a division of cyber security experts who will defend its networks from cyber attacks and will train other officers in the future.

2. LULZSEC HACKED SONY PICTURES: MILLIONS OF ACCOUNTS EXPOSED
A hacker group called LulzSec claim to have compromised SonyPictures.com and gained access to its entire database of over one million accounts.
Compromised account information includes email addresses, home addresses, dates of birth, Sony opt-in data and, shockingly, plain text passwords.
LulzSec claims the method of compromise was SQL injection, an attack that exploits one of the most common type of flaws found in websites today.
“SonyPictures.com was owned by a very simple SQL injection, one of the most primitive and common vulnerabilities, as we should all know by now. From a single injection, we accessed EVERYTHING,” the hackers write.

3. HACKERS STEAL CUSTOMER DATA FROM ACER’S EUROPEAN WEBSITE
A hacker group called Pakistan Cyber Army (PCA) claims to have broken into the European website of hardware manufacturer Acer and stolen the personal information of 40,000 customers.
The customer information includes full names, email addresses, full home addresses (with postal code, city and country) and phone numbers.
In December 2010, Pakistan Cyber Army members made the that they defaced 270 websites belonging to Indian companies, educational institutions and government agencies.
The most prominent victim was the website of India’s top law enforcement agency, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). This is most likely the time when the group was established, because its name and first attacks were a response to defacements carried out against Pakistani government websites by a group called the Indian Cyber Army (ICA).
